From the article: Definition of Mean Girls
There's a mean girl in every class, at least it seems that way. The mean girl rules over all others, manipulating, backstabbing, gossiping, teasing, and turning friend against friend. Has your tween encountered a mean girl yet? How did you help your child manage the situation? Did you have to involve yourself, call the school, or speak to the mean girl yourself? How would you advise other parents should their tween have a run in with the class mean girl? Share Your Experience
Mean Girls are Bullies.
- It's sad that middle school girls are acting out and becoming bullies. Check out the article "Queen Tween Bees" in Ezine.com or http://www.hellokiki.me

Has Your Tween Encountered a Mean Girl?
- My daughter was 9 when she met the mean girl who was once a friend. She ceased to concentrate in class, she complained of stomach aches and of feelings of anxiety. She clearly spoke up to me one morning and said, " Mom, I think I am being bullied." I contacted her classroom teacher, her principal and the school counselor. In fact, all three took charge of the situation - they had a girl's group meeting, an individual meeting each with the bully and her followers. It took about an entire school year until everything came back to normal. My daughter speaks up easily against any unfairness and talks back to those who try to put her down. Slowly and gradually she takes her place. Our way out was support at school, frequent family discussions including siblings, other school parents. Most of all books for us (parents) and books for our daughter on how to choose friends and what qualities to look for.
