How to Make a Fortune Teller Costume for Halloween or a Party

By , About.com Guide

Does your tween need a costume for a party or for Halloween? A fortune teller costume is easy to assemble and fun to wear.

Supplies You'll Need to Make a Fortune Teller Costume

  • A long skirt (such as a peasant skirt or a broom skirt)
  • A peasant shirt or something similar, the poofier the better
  • A solid-color vest, brightly colored
  • A bandana
  • A long scarf
  • Black shoes and black stockings (or leggings)
  • Mardi gras beads (or several long necklaces in different colors
  • Plastic rings
  • Have your tween dress in the skirt, shirt, vest, leggings and shoes. Add the jewelry, and knot the scarf around her waist. A fortune teller costume demands a bandana, tied on the side of the head. Or, wrap her hair in a hand towel and secure above the forehead with a large broach.

If your tween needs a prop, she can pass out Tarot cards, or she can offer to read the palms of her friends.
