As my children get older, they get a lot pickier about their school lunches. I used to be able to throw anything into their lunch boxes, no more. For starters, lunch boxes are no more. The older your child is the less likely they'll be to bring a lunch box to school A tote maybe, or just a plain brown paper bag, but not a lunch box.
And then there's the contents of the lunch. PB&J has lost its luster. These days they want hummus wraps, veggie chips and water bottles instead of the stock juice boxes of yesteryear.
Fortunately, it's still relatively easy to offer them healthy lunch options. It just requires a bit more thought, and planning.
