Sleepover Survival for Parents of Tweens

"Mom, can I have a slumber party?"

If you're the parent of a tween, you've heard those words before. And, chances are, you'll hear them again, real soon.

Slumber parties are almost a right of passage for tweens, and they're a great learning and bonding experience as well. Tweens rely on their friendships, and sleepovers cement close relationships, and strengthen friendships in the making.

There are certain strategies to organizing and hosting a successful tween slumber party. First and foremost, put your tween in charge of planning the party, and make sure she plays the part of a good hostess. After all, preteens are old enough to take on a little responsibility, and to learn how to interact in positive ways with their peers.
